Br. Christopher Sale B.P.P. --
The Bible says we are “more than conquerors” in the spiritual life (Rev. 8:37). This means that through Christ we can do (and overcome) all things!
Todays’ culture, however, appears to be the formidable force which aims to destroy anything sacred, including chastity.
The one “token sin” which has become acceptable in society is “homosexuality.” The truth is that some Catholics deal with same-sex attraction but yet desire not to live a homosexual lifestyle. Same-sex attraction, then, is an intense interest in others of the same gender.
Common questions which arise are, ‘Is same-sex attraction a sin in and of itself? ‘Can it be managed and/or eventually overcome?’, ‘Can one live a homosexual lifestyle and still be a faithful Catholic-Christian?’
The psychology community uses the term homosexuality to refer to the entire complex that includes attractions, feelings, desires, sexual behavior, identity, and all its associated aspects, such as problems with masculinity, self-perception, emotional dependencies, and relationship issues.
Society prefers to use the word “gay.” The Bible and the Church has a whole lot to say about homosexuality. It is incumbent then upon every Catholic to know the truth.
At one time, Br. Christopher struggled with same-sex attraction and was on the verge of being overcome by sin, but he is now on a quest to reach out to those who may be struggling with same-sex attraction and/or the homosexual lifestyle.
He reminds us that we are children of God and that we have been called to "live according to the Spirit" (or "walk in the Spirit"), and that Holy Mother Church has been granted the resources to help the faithful to overcome any sin, including homosexuality.
Brother Christopher’s story will inspire you to understand that nothing is too difficult for Our God, and that freedom and peace comes when one yields to His will entirely.
